Annual Inspection Report

The Inspection of My Mind: by Brandon Grasmick

I was born January 2, 1982, and grew up on the family farm near Gering, Nebraska. I graduated from Gering High in May of 2000, and from Western Nebraska Community College 3 years later. I've served as a reserve sheriff's deputy, and am now on staff at Missionaire.

My interests are many and varied. When I was younger, I liked to work on computers. Now I'm more apt to throw them out the window when they refuse to work. I've been a sci-fi fan for as long as I can remember. I like Star Trek and the new Battlestar Galactica. I guess it's the stories combined with special effects. Another passion is real space travel and exploration, and on my list of things to do someday is to go up into outer space. I have a fondness for American history and military history, and the American fighting man for that matter. I guess I could summarize by saying I am a very proud and grateful American.

I could go on and on about things I like, from family and friends, food, movies, TV, traveling, baseball, aquariums and goldfish, to anything else I'm forgetting right now. But when it comes to describing myself, one can't separate God from the equation. God has done so much for me, I don't have the words to describe it. I'm far from perfect, in fact I stink at things. And much like the Apostle Paul said, sometimes I do the very thing I ought not do. Yet God still loves me, and not a week goes by out of the year that I'm not grateful for the Cross.

When it comes down to it, that's why I'm here. I've always had a soft spot for the youth of our world, and God has given me this opportunity to serve Him by being there for them. I will be implementing a youth outreach project called the Damascus Road. The Project takes its name from Acts chapter 9, where Luke records the conversion of a man named Saul. Saul, a Pharisee, had been a rather vocal force in the persecution of the followers of Christ. Jesus appeared to him on the road, and he would later become Paul, the "apostle to the Gentiles". Today's youth face ever-growing challenges and mixed messages. From drugs and alcohol, abuse in or out of the home, to everything else the world throws at them, our youth face an infinite range of pressures. But there is hope, and that hope is found solely in Christ.

What will I do in reaching out to the next generation? I don't know, but I'm sure I'll have some fun doing it. I just have to leave things in His hands.
