Annual Inspection Report

Are we there yet? by Jon & Lori Foote

As we prepare for our move to Tompkinsville, the natural thing for us to do is look forward to all the details - a house to live in, how to get all our household furnishings, Missionaire tools, equipment, and projects to Kentucky. Where will we set up the Missionaire office until construction at the Tompkinsville airport is completed? How do we ease the stresses of staff and students as they prepare to move?

We are not alone. Often we hear, "When are you going?" or "I thought you guys were gone!" My response is always the same: We will move as soon as our house sells - want to buy a house? It's God's timing. If the timing were left in my hands, I would have messed it up by now.

It's easier to follow God when everything is positive and falls into place. But God's call is rarely like that. God calls, we believe and are willing to follow - but will we follow the path that He chooses or do we divert and go down our own easier path and still expect to get where He wants us to go? Then inevitably a member of the "cold water committee" comes along and says, "If God was really behind this move, wouldn't you be there already?" This same "committee" holds to the belief that, if a missionary's support is not raised within one year, it was not God's call. To them I quote Jesus - "Have you not read?"

Scripture is full of examples to the contrary. Actually, I know that the time has not yet come. How? We see God opening the doors wide to Lori and I because of our move, to proclaim Christ, to witness, to encourage, to serve, and to be encouraged.

One of the reasons for our move is because of the spiritual oppression in Kimball. Many are still blinded by Satan and don't see it, but some have said, "I see it - what can I do?" One group asked me to pastor a new church - I declined. However, I did encourage them to meet regularly to pray for Kimball. I know of two other groups that now meet regularly to pray.

There is rarely a time when I can go into any store to pick something up and not stay for 30 - 45 minutes or more proclaiming Christ. Whether it's the grocery store, hardware store, lumberyard, parts stores, machine shop, Subway, interior shop, or the steel manufacturing company - not to mention those who come to find me - someone always wants to talk. God is still using us and He's not done with us in Kimball quite yet.
