Our Philosophy
Our program is designed to prepare a person for placement within missions
as a missionary pilot/mechanic. Missionaire takes individuals with or without
aviation training, and provides what is necessary for them to attain their
goal of serving on the mission field. There is much more to becoming a missionary
pilot/mechanic than flying and fixing aircraft. Missionaire has developed
a training program to include all that is needed for you to become an effective
missionary aviator.
Our program varies in length from 3 - 5 years, depending on the individual and the amount of prior experience. We begin with hands-on maintenance training on actual missions aircraft. After one year of maintenance training, your flight training begins. Why wait one year to begin flying? Maintenance skills are the foundation of what you will need on the mission field. Throughout the program you will be given training in mission prep and Bible. You will receive training in such areas as basic survival skills, "fence" removal, first aid for missions, and surviving an aircraft accident. Another aspect of our program involves choosing a personal mission project within the local area. Most importantly, you will be a missionary first, then a mechanic, then a pilot.
During the first year of training, you will be concentrating not only on your maintenance skills, but also on raising your monthly support and determining where in the world the Lord is leading you to serve. Why is location so important? When we know where you will be flying, we can train you specifically in service for that region of the world.
Our program takes a person with a passion to reach this world for Christ, and provides the training and preparation needed for service as a missionary aviator. The goal is to take a person through maintenance training while restoring an aircraft. Specific flight training is given in that same aircraft. Ultimately, the goal is to place the person with that aircraft into service on the mission field.
