Whatever Happened to the Wheat Growers?
In 2004 Missionaire purchased this historic hotel with the intention of renovating it for offices, classrooms, and missionary apartments. We prayed, "God, use this place for Your purpose as a beacon to the community." Many volunteers came to help us pound plaster, pry off lath, shovel up tons of rubble, replace the roofing, and put new glass in most of the windows. God allowed us to come close to completing three of the five phases we had set out to accomplish in the process. And then, we heard Him say, "Go."
What do you do with a 21,000 square foot building in an economically depressed area, in need of work beyond most people's comprehension? This was such a key question, we put it to the Lord and asked Him to miraculously sell the Wheat Growers Hotel as confirmation that He had really said, "Go." When we finally made the decision to trust God and go ahead with plans for a move, He moved. The short version - we bought some cheap 'for sale' signs and stuck them in the front windows. Within two days we had met with an excited local couple, who made an offer the next day. We closed before the end of April. A miracle? Yes!

community as they served on this project and showed people firsthand what it means to live out their Christian faith. Crews from LeTourneau University, Hard Hats for Christ, and out-of-state churches and family groups came to make their mark on Kimball. We still hear positive comments from people.
With proceeds from the sale of the Wheat Growers, we have about 1/3 of the funds needed for a building we're looking at for Missionaire in Tompkinsville. This is a 10,000 square foot building that only needs to be modified for our needs - no major renovation needed! To see pictures and more information on this property, visit www.missionaire.org.
